| Colonists settle besides the road |
| Together with the oil firms the colonists arrive in the jungle region. The immigrants settle along the new roads. The land was signed over to them by the government if they managed the forests. When thirty years ago the oil boom set in in Oriente, the state wanted to control the great resources of the region through settlements. The indigenous tribes like the Shuar, Zecoya and Huaorani lived more or less unnoticed in the Amazon region. |
