Many kinds of seabirds use the archipelagos for breeding as for example the Galapagos-Albatross, that is ruler of the sky with his wingspan of 2,4 m. He is accompanied by eight kinds of pelicans, seagulls, cormorants, gannets, egrets, finches and the Galapagos-Buzzard.
Of the few mammals there are for example the Galapagos-sea-lion, and the Galapagos-fur seal.
The Galapagos-Penguins have a special position. Usually, penguins only live in cold-water-regions like the Antarktis. Through the influence of the Humboldt-stream, however, the most northern of penguin-species live on the Galapagos.
